Forterro boosts Glazerite systems

Forterro has supported Glazerite in completing an eight-month upgrade to its servers and dataset, delivering what Paul Jagger, Head of Group IT at Glazerite, describes as “significant performance benefits for customers and colleagues.”

Forterro has worked with the Wellingborough-based trade fabricator since 2000, supporting its use of Evolution and Satellite pricing, ordering and manufacturing software, alongside EvoNet order tracking, stock control and Courier proof of delivery systems.

The latest project formed part of Glazerite’s planned transition to a new server, aimed at improving scalability, security and cost efficiency. Forterro’s software development team worked with Glazerite to scope and deliver a full dataset rebuild.

The rebuild was completed ahead of schedule, allowing Glazerite to migrate its order processing function onto the new server a month early and ensure it was fully populated before going live.

Led internally by Senior Software Product Developer Andy Thompson, the project enabled Glazerite to remove redundant profiles and hardware, while consolidating machining set-ups to create a faster, more streamlined system.

Forterro also implemented changes across multiple systems, including updates to the Batch Release Module, factory machine drivers, GlazeBot automation tools, Courier functionality and a new configuration for EvoSatellite.

EvoNet was recreated jointly by both teams, allowing it to operate dynamically across both servers. This reduced the risk of duplication, bottlenecks and errors during the transition.

Jagger said: “There is always some inherent risk in migrating to a new server, but working with the Forterro team ensured that we were able to mitigate that risk almost entirely. Their support was crucial in the successful delivery of this project.

“The feedback from both our team and customers using EvoSatellite is that the transition has been seamless, with significant performance improvements.”
