AluK has published a new guide and dedicated website to help fabricators, installers and specifiers understand and prepare for changes to the Future Homes Standard and Part L ahead of the 2027 deadline.
The guidance outlines key updates, including notional U-values for windows set at 1.2 W/m²K and the shift to calculating performance based on actual window size and configuration rather than standard test sizes.
AluK’s website and downloadable guide provide practical detail on how fabricators can calculate U-values and how installers can demonstrate and document airtightness. It also includes advice for specifiers on using project-specific data and aligning Part L requirements with Part O and Part F.
The guide explains how the updated regulations apply across different project types, including new build, replacement, extension and heritage applications. It also highlights differences between England and Wales, where alternative limiting U-values apply.
A timeline for implementation is included, alongside a summary of key changes and a checklist of AluK systems with associated U-values and compliance status.
Paul Booth, Technical Director at AluK, said: “The new Future Homes Standard could support the delivery of more energy-efficient homes. Our aim is to provide customers with clear guidance so they can prepare for the changes and ensure compliance.”
AluK has also outlined the support it provides, including third-party validated Uf values and project-specific thermal modelling to assist customers in meeting the new requirements.
