AluK has launched a dedicated website and downloadable guide designed to help fabricators, installers and specifiers prepare for the updated Future Homes Standard and Part L requirements ahead of the 2027 deadline.

According to AluK, the updated Part L introduces notional U-Values for windows of 1.2 W/m2K, which the company says achieves a balance between energy efficiency and cost. The company has also welcomed the move towards calculating U-Values based on the actual size and configuration of windows rather than standard test sizes.

AluK’s Future Homes website and guide provide information on the practical implications of the changes for fabricators, installers and specifiers.

The guide includes advice for fabricators on calculating U-Values, guidance for installers on airtightness requirements and documentation, and information for specifiers on using project-specific thermal calculations and aligning Part L requirements with Part O and Part F.

It also outlines how the updated rules apply across new build, replacement, extension and heritage projects, including differences between regulations in England and Wales.

According to AluK, the guide also includes reassurance on the support available to customers, including third-party validated Uf values and project-specific thermal modelling, alongside a checklist of AluK systems and their compliance status.

Paul Booth, Technical Director at AluK, commented: “The new Future Homes Standard could be a real step forward in terms of delivering warmer, more efficient homes which are less dependent on fossil fuels.

“With notional U-Values set at a very achievable 1.2, it represents a great opportunity for the aluminium sector to win a bigger slice of the new build market in particular, and we are doing all we can to help our customers get ahead of the new rules before next year and put themselves in a great position to win new business.”
