Polar NE has secured four new contracts across the North East, supporting the company’s continued expansion beyond its specialist reduced-ligature healthcare products.
The projects will involve the installation of more than 500 windows at Blyth and North Tyneside hospitals, Holystone Primary School and Yarm School.
Founded more than 40 years ago, Polar NE has developed a strong presence within the NHS sector over the last two decades through its reduced-ligature window and door systems.
Rob Lofthouse, Operations Manager at Polar NE, said: “Traditional windows and doors have always been a strong part of our business, and these contracts are a reminder that there’s a lot more depth to our business than just the mental health sector.”
Lofthouse added that all four projects had come from returning clients, reflecting the company’s track record across both healthcare and wider construction environments.
The windows are currently being fabricated at Polar NE’s Skipper’s Lane facility in Middlesbrough, with installation expected to begin during the summer.
The contracts follow the company’s involvement in HMP Stirling, Scotland’s first new women’s prison in a generation, where Polar NE designed and manufactured reduced-ligature fittings for the £85 million development.
James Hill, Managing Director at Polar NE, said the company’s expertise in specialist healthcare environments was increasingly creating opportunities across a wider range of sectors.
Hill said: “We’ve built our reputation by solving some of the most complex challenges in healthcare environments, but that same expertise can translate into almost any sector.”
