Whitby-based Cowen Windows Ltd has reinforced a four-decade relationship with Kombimatec through the installation of two new machines as part of its transition to manufacturing the VEKA Omnia double flush, double rebated system.
In April 2025, Cowen Managing Director Trevor Kipling took delivery of a Kombimatec EV443 CNC Corner Cleaner. A year later, in April 2026, the company installed a Kombimatec AFV367 End Milling Machine.
There’s usually a very good reason why you would want to continue doing business with the same company for 40 years – the products work, the service is exemplary, and the relationship is strong. Which is exactly why Cowen Windows picked up the phone to Kombimatec when it needed to upgrade its machinery to accommodate its transition to the VEKA Omnia profile system.
“There’s a deep-seated understanding in the way Kombimatec does business with us – an understanding that has evolved since we first started buying PVCu fabrication machinery from them back in the 1980s,” said Trevor.
“We’ve even still got a few of those original machines dotted around the place.
“As window designs have evolved, so has the ability to make those windows, and Kombimatec has helped us at every stage of Cowen’s history. Whitby and the surrounding area have a plethora of older, traditional properties, and the opportunity to upgrade to a more sympathetic style of window has given us a real business boost. Working consistently with David Parsons and his team has alleviated any of the additional stress that is involved in adapting the manufacturing resources.”
David Parsons, Managing Director of Kombimatec, added:
“Kombimatec’s longevity in window fabrication has followed the path of many smaller manufacturers over the last few decades – manufacturers who are truly the bedrock of what can often be a volatile industry with many comings and goings.
“We understand what they need, have an innate knowledge of the best solution, and give that personal service that lends itself to a calm, professional and enjoyable working relationship. It has been a real pleasure to participate in Cowen’s growth and evolution as a manufacturer producing beautiful windows.”
Kombimatec’s AFV367 Variable Angle End Milling Machine has been engineered to deliver greater efficiency, accuracy and flexibility when machining the ends of aluminium and PVCu extruded profiles. Its hydro-pneumatic feed control ensures smooth, consistent operation, while a quick-change cutter facility allows operators to switch tooling without the need for additional tools.
A variable angle milling fence, adjustable from 45-90-45 degrees, combined with a six-position revolving depth stop, enables fabricators to accommodate a wide range of profile configurations with speed and precision.
The AFV367 also places a strong emphasis on operator safety and workflow optimisation. Two-stage horizontal and vertical pneumatic clamps ensure secure profile positioning during operation, while the interlocking guard system provides enhanced protection for users.
Additional features including a stroke limiter switch for faster cycle times, automatic coolant lubrication and optional in-feed roller support tables further improve day-to-day manufacturing efficiency. Compact in footprint yet highly capable, the machine offers an ideal solution for fabricators looking to streamline end milling processes while maintaining consistently high-quality results.
