Until now, triple glazing has meant a thicker, heavier unit - often too bulky for existing frames, forcing homeowners into a full window replacement just to upgrade their glass.
Whiteline has partnered with Clayton Glass to become the only fabricator in Sussex offering Triple28, branded exclusively through Whiteline as TripleLyte. Built around an ultra-thin 1.1mm monolithic centre pane, it delivers full triple-glazing performance within a standard 28mm double-glazing profile - fitting straight into existing beads and gasket systems, with the same broad choice of standard beading that sculptured triple-glazed units simply don't allow.
At just 22.75kg per square metre - against roughly 30kg for standard 36mm triple glazing - it's dramatically lighter, easing the load on existing hinges and hardware. A single seal between the outer panes reduces the risk of seal failure over time. And a subtle green solar-control coating, barely visible as a faint tint on close inspection, cuts solar gain and UV exposure to help protect furniture and flooring from fading - all while supporting a centre-pane U-value of 0.8 W/m²K* on clear, laminated, or satin specifications.
Because the existing frame stays in place and only the sealed unit is replaced, this work doesn't normally trigger Building Regulations approval. Yet it still gives homeowners a genuine, measurable upgrade over their existing double glazing - fitted on site, using the same tools and techniques installers already know.
