Slimline Blind Sales Surge

Demand for slimline integral blinds is continuing to grow, with Morley Glass reporting an 80% year-on-year increase in sales of its ScreenLine® SL16 system.

The SL16 system is designed to fit within a 16mm cavity, allowing compatibility with 24mm IGUs, unlike standard integral blind systems which typically require thicker units. According to Morley Glass, this has created new opportunities for installers working with existing window and door frames, including vertical sliding sash windows.

The system achieves its slimline profile through narrower slats and reduced depth components, while still offering the same functionality as other ScreenLine® integral blind products manufactured by Morley Glass.

Ian Short, managing director at Morley Glass, said: “As end-user awareness of integral blinds grows, so too is understanding of how and where they can be fitted within new windows and doors and as an upgrade for installation in existing frames.

“These are amongst the main reasons why we’ve seen increased interest and sales growth over the past 12 months, with the SL16 busting the myth that integral blinds are only compatible with IGUs in thicknesses of at least 28mm.”

Morley Glass also reports increased interest following the launch of the motorised SL16MB version, which can be controlled via remote handset, wall-mounted controller or smartphone app when integrated with a smart home system.

The SL16 is available in nine colour options and is manufactured to order at Morley Glass’s Yorkshire facility. According to the company, units are supplied within 10-12 working days and backed by a five-year warranty.

Morley Glass also highlights the suitability of the SL16 system for Part Q compliant glazing applications using laminated outer panes, where standard integral blind systems may not fit within the available cavity.
