Morley Glass says demand is growing for the slider wand control option available with its Uni-Blinds® SV and SV+ Systems, just over a year after the product was introduced.
Developed by ScreenLine® manufacturer Pellini S.p.A., the slider wand was designed to improve accessibility for users who may find the standard magnetic slider difficult to reach. According to Morley Glass, the system is proving particularly useful for wheelchair users, people with reduced mobility, and installations in awkward locations such as above kitchen sinks, stairwells and high-level windows.
The development process involved engineering an aluminium and high-grade plastic assembly with a Sanitized® antimicrobial coating, designed to provide durability alongside aesthetic appeal.
The slider wand is mounted on a profile guide down either side of the glass and allows users to operate the integral blind at arm’s length using a smooth up-and-down movement. It is available as an option on both the Uni-Blinds® SV System and the symmetrically designed SV+ System.
Ian Short, Managing Director at Morley Glass, said: “The ease with which you can control the SV and SV+ Systems means the cordless magnetic slider has long been the most popular of our control systems.
“However, the slider with integrated wand has taken the systems’ convenience to an even higher level, making the magnetic cordless slider control a viable alternative to motorised integral blinds for wheelchair users or people with reduced mobility – as well as in windows that are harder to reach.”
Short added that the company has seen the product used across a wide range of applications during its first year on the market and expects specification levels to increase as installers become more familiar with its accessibility benefits.
The SV System uses patented magnetic technology to control the blind without cords on the face of the glass, while the SV+ System offers the same functionality with dual slim side guides to create a symmetrical appearance.
According to Morley Glass, all Uni-Blinds® integral blind units are manufactured to order at its Yorkshire facility and are available in a range of colours including black, agate grey and anthracite.
