Saint-Gobain Glass has been shortlisted for two G26 Awards in the New Product of the Year category, recognising its latest innovations designed for both double and triple-glazed insulated glass units.
The company has been shortlisted for both PLANITHERM® NEO, its next-generation low-emissivity glass coating developed and manufactured in the UK, and 4.8mm STADIP® PLUS, a thinner, lighter-weight laminated glass designed to deliver P2A safety and security performance alongside improved thermal efficiency.
The double shortlisting highlights Saint-Gobain Glass's continued focus on developing glazing solutions that address the industry's evolving requirements for energy efficiency, sustainability, aesthetics and manufacturing practicality.
PLANITHERM NEO combines thermal insulation with high light transmission, optimised solar gain and lower reflection. Designed as a single-stock solution for both double and triple-glazed units, it achieves a centre-pane U-value of 1.0 W/m²K in double-glazing and as low as 0.5 W/m²K in triple-glazing, helping manufacturers meet increasingly demanding energy performance requirements while simplifying stockholding and production planning.
Sustainability is central to the product's development, with up to 40% of the glass used in its manufacture coming from reclaimed and remanufactured pre-consumer and post-consumer glass cullet through Saint-Gobain Glass's Glass Forever circular economy programme. Manufactured in the UK using lower-carbon PLANICLEAR® glass as standard, PLANITHERM NEO is supported by Life Cycle Assessment data and a published Environmental Product Declaration.
The second shortlisted product, 4.8mm STADIP PLUS, rethinks traditional laminated glazing by maintaining recognised P2A security classification in a thinner, lighter construction. The reduced glass thickness creates opportunities to increase cavity sizes within insulated glass units, supporting improved thermal performance without increasing overall unit thickness.
In a typical double-glazed configuration using PLANITHERM NEO, replacing 6.8mm STADIP with 4.8mm STADIP PLUS allows the cavity to increase from 14mm to 16mm, improving the centre-pane U-value from 1.1 W/m²K to 1.0 W/m²K. The lighter construction also offers practical benefits for handling, processing and installation, while providing opportunities to enhance acoustic performance and daylight transmission. It can also be combined with higher-performance coated glass products, including PLANITHERM NEO, to suit a range of specifications.
4.8mm STADIP PLUS is manufactured in the UK using lower-carbon PLANICLEAR glass, based on the product’s new, third-party verified EPD, published June 2026. The new declaration shows a carbon reduction of more than 34% compared with the previous PLANICLEAR EPD.
Mike Butterick, Marketing Director at Saint-Gobain Glass, said: “Both products reflect our investment in UK manufacturing and our commitment to delivering practical innovations that benefit the property and construction sector.
“We’re thrilled to see these two products being shortlisted in the G26 Awards. We feel it recognises our approach to developing products that go beyond a single performance improvement, combining technical innovation with environmental responsibility and real-world benefits across the glazing supply chain.”
The winners of the G26 Awards will be announced at the awards ceremony on 27 November 2026 at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
