Esquire Trials Water System
Andy Stephens, Operations Director

Esquire Glass is trialling a centrifuge system to improve waste water management and production efficiency at its Derbyshire facility.

The business produces decorative glass and mirror products for sectors including kitchens, bathrooms, furniture and home improvement, and has expanded its operations over recent decades through growth and acquisition.

To support ongoing investment in equipment, Esquire Glass works with Flat Glass Solutions (FGS), which has supplied a range of systems including storage racks, washers and lifting equipment. The latest addition is a Dieffe centrifuge, currently being trialled to assess its suitability for full-scale implementation.

Andy Stephens, Operations Director at Esquire Glass, said: “We’re trialling the centrifuge at the moment, with a view to expanding it into a larger system next year. We want to make sure that the system is right for us and gives us clear projections in terms of potential cost savings against investment levels.”

The centrifuge is designed to remove glass particles and contaminants from water used in cutting, grinding and edging processes, supporting recycling and reuse within the production cycle.

David Cahill, Managing Director at Flat Glass Solutions, said: “It is crucial to run a trial of the centrifuge to ensure compatibility with the local water supply and the manufacturing environment. Once we have completed the trial, we can determine the most suitable model for long-term use.”

The system is expected to reduce downtime associated with cleaning and minimise the need to dispose of contaminated waste water, supporting more efficient and sustainable production processes.
