Saint-Gobain Glass has expanded its solar control glass portfolio with the launch of COOL-LITE® XTREME 70/33 II with BIOCLEAN® II, a roof glazing solution that combines solar control, thermal insulation and a low-maintenance self-cleaning coating, in a single pane.
Suitable for rooflights, skylights, glazed atriums and pitched overhead glazing, the new product helps reduce solar heat gain while allowing high levels of natural daylight into buildings. It has a g-value of 32% and light transmission of 68%. It also supports thermal comfort during colder weather and has a centre pane U-value of 1.0 W/m2K.
The integrated low-maintenance self-cleaning BIOCLEAN II coating uses daylight to help break down organic dirt on the external glass surface. Rainwater can then wash away the loosened dirt, helping to reduce ongoing cleaning and maintenance requirements.
This makes COOL-LITE XTREME 70/33 II with BIOCLEAN II particularly suitable for roof glazing and other hard-to-reach applications where regular cleaning can be challenging.
For BIOCLEAN II to perform effectively, the glass must be installed in a location exposed to daylight and at a sufficient angle to allow rainwater to run freely across its surface.
Jenni Young, Market Manager at Saint-Gobain Glass, said: “COOL-LITE XTREME 70/33 II with BIOCLEAN II brings together solar control, natural daylight, thermal insulation and easier maintenance all in one glazing solution.
“It has been developed for roof glazing applications, where managing solar heat gain and maintaining comfortable internal temperatures are important, but accessing the glass for regular cleaning can be difficult. The addition of BIOCLEAN II provides a practical benefit for building owners, homeowners and specifiers looking for a high-performing, low-maintenance solution.”
COOL-LITE XTREME 70/33 II with BIOCLEAN II helps to create bright, comfortable interior spaces where occupant wellbeing and building performance are key design considerations.
COOL-LITE XTREME 70/33 II with BIOCLEAN II is available on PLANICLEAR® glass in a 4mm thickness, with a maximum stock size of 3210 x 2550mm. Other dimensions may be available on enquiry.
