Award-winning supplier of fenestration products for the trade, commercial and new build sectors, Unique Window Systems is getting behind an important cause.
The rapidly growing fabricator of PVCu and aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling is acting as the headline sponsor of the Alex’s Wish Charity Football Tournament.
Taking place on Saturday 15th June 2024 at the Quorn FC Farley Way Stadium, the five-a-side competition is being held in support of the Alex’s Wish charity, which raises funds to help eradicate Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (Duchenne MD).
One of the most common and severe forms of muscular dystrophy, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a genetic disorder that primarily affects boys. With symptoms first appearing in early childhood, it causes an increasing level of disability by progressively weakening the muscles.
Around 100 boys are born with Duchenne MD each year, most of whom will only live into their 20s or 30s because of the condition.
Alex’s Wish was set up in late 2012 by Emma and Andy Hallam, and is named after their son who has Duchenne MD. Through a range of fundraising activities, Alex’s Wish aims to bring about new treatments for Duchenne MD and ultimately to help find a cure for this devastating condition.
As well as sponsoring the competition, Unique is entering a number of teams. Its involvement builds on a track record of supporting Alex’s Wish by the business, its staff, and their families.
Earlier this year, Nima Patel, daughter of the company’s joint managing director, Sunil Patel, ran the TCS London Marathon and raised over £12,600 for the charity. Commenting, Sunil Patel said: “Our decision to sponsor the Alex’s Wish Charity Football Tournament reflects Unique’s strong sense of community and social responsibility.
“As a sizeable business that remains family owned, we are also proud of our more personable approach. Qualities like compassion, consideration and loyalty are all important to us.
“Andy, Alex’s father, is a long term customer and friend of the business and so we want to do as much as possible to support him, his son, and the charity he and his wife have established.”
