Birmingham Glass Services has been around since the late 1980s, founded by Mick Skerrett Senior in his family garden. Over the years, the company has grown considerably—something you can see just by comparing their first advert with us in 1996 to their latest one!
Today, Birmingham Glass manufactures and installs their own UPVC and aluminium doors, windows, porches, and conservatories for both domestic and trade customers. Operating nationwide, the company consistently receives 5-star feedback across all areas of its business and continues to attract new customers from all over the UK.
Whether it’s a large-scale project or a smaller job, Birmingham Glass takes the same level of care with every task. They are often the first port of call for anyone with glazing needs, and it’s easy to see why. Mick’s original goal was simple: to create a window and glass company that stood out by being honest, open, and different. That same approach has been carried through the years, helping Birmingham Glass establish itself as a stable, highly recommended, and trusted family business.
The company's first premises was Mick’s garden shed, and while moving to a “proper” business space helped reduce the number of spiders dropping onto desks, it did sadly cut back on those home-cooked lunches! Over the years, staff members' children who used to visit the office—often “borrowing” pens and notepads—grew up and came to work for the company themselves. This strong family ethos runs through the entire team, with every new baby born into the Birmingham Glass family receiving a custom BGS onesie. Needless to say, they blew that onesie budget a long time ago!
In 2010, Birmingham Glass upgraded to a larger premises, and today, Mick’s son, Mike, is running things alongside his father. Since their first advert with us, the business has seen a steady increase in staff, new products, and happy customers. No longer just replacing glass, Birmingham Glass Services is now a large, multi-skilled organization with over 30 employees. They are trusted not only by homeowners but also by local housing authorities, the NHS, Birmingham City Council, and Bournville Village Trust.
One of the company’s latest advancements is the manufacturing of their own aluminium frames. Despite all this incredible growth—something Mick never imagined back in his garden shed—one thing has remained constant: their unwavering commitment to top-notch customer service. This tradition, proudly maintained from the very beginning, continues to be at the heart of Birmingham Glass’s values as they look forward to a bright future
