Makita Cordless Tools Are Just The Job
Here, Makita provides an overview of some tools ideally suited to the requirements of window, door and glazing contractors.
Cordless tools can offer a number of advantages in terms of flexibility and ease of working, especially with ongoing advances in battery and motor technology now offering improved performance and extended run times.
The Makita ‘DHR400’ cordless Twin 18V (36V) 40mm SDS-MAX Rotary Hammer offers the same performance as the equivalent mains powered tool and is the first to feature their Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT). It has a best in class vibration rating of just 5.0m/s² when hammer drilling into concrete allowing extended trigger-time and safer operation. It has a maximum drilling capacity of 40mm in concrete using a standard Tungsten Carbide Tipped (TCT) drill bit and 105 mm with a TCT core bit.
Twin 18V tools use two 18V batteries to deliver the greater power and longer run times required for high drain applications such as timber cutting, breaking or drilling larger diameter holes in concrete. This allows a more powerful 36V motor to be driven by the same 18V batteries used across a wide array of your general 18V LXT tools.
Makita also has a range of cordless reciprocating saws, including both 18V and Twin 18V tools that feature brushless motor technology. Brushless motors produce more torque per weight, which means that less power is required to achieve the same result, extending run times by between 30% and 50% on each battery charge. The compact, lightweight and ergonomically designed saws feature variable speed trigger controls and tool-less blade change and adjustment for ease of use on site. This makes them ideal for quickly and efficiently removing old windows and doors.
Their extensive product portfolio includes 18V caulking guns that greatly reduce the user's hand fatigue. The variable speed control trigger and anti-drip function makes jobs such as sealing around glazing easier and cleaner.
For standard drilling applications Makita also offers a range of OmniBohrer multi material drill bits that are suitable for brick, wood, metal and plastics making it ideal for window, door and glazing installation.
Makita has over 200 different tools on its LXT Lithium-ion battery platform including combi-drills, impact drivers, mitre saws, multi-tools, sanders and angle grinders.
